Description: | The Finite VolumE Sea ice-Ocean Model (FESOM2.1) is a global ocean general circulaIon model, coupled to the ocean biogeochemistry model Regulated Ecosystem Model version 3 (REcoM3). REcoM3 has 28 prognosIc tracers and the marine carbonate system along with air-sea CO2 exchange is simulated using the mocsy rouInes. It represents two phytoplankton classes and three zooplankton groups. REcoM3 resolves the cycling of the macro nutrients dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) and silicic acid (DSi) along with the trace metal dissolved iron (DFe). The variable stoichiometric raIo represents the physiological response of phytoplankton to changing environmental condiIons, such as light and nutrient availability. The model simulaIons are carried out using the so-called CORE mesh with 126859 surface nodes. It has a resoluIon of ~20 km in the equatorial and polar regions and a coarse resoluIon of ~75 km in the subtropical ocean basins. It has 47 unevenly spaced verIcal levels, with thickness varying from 5 m at the surface to 250 m in the deep ocean. Forcing: Output from AWI Climate Model (AWI-CM) contribuIon to CMIP6. The simulaIons are forced with 3-hourly atmospheric momentum fluxes, freshwater fluxes, radiaIon and daily output of terrestrial freshwater runoff from the first ensemble member of the historical simulaIon unIl 2014 of the SSP1-2.6 or SSP3-7.0 from 2015 unIl 2100.
